Many Different Ways to Say Bathroom, Restroom, etc in Mandarin

在台湾经常使用“aaaa”来指厕所（厕所，淋浴或浴缸），而卫生间“bbbb”是中国大陆最常用的卫生间用品。 在公共场所“cccc”只是“洗手间”。 其他中文术语包括：“dddd”，洗澡的浴室，通常没有洗手间，“eeee”，没有洗浴设施的公共洗手间，“ffff”洗手间或卫生间，以及“gggg”洗手间 主要在台湾）。 有时候，一些中国人把厕所婉转地称为“呃”，字面意义上的第一。

Zài táiwān jīngcháng shǐyòng “aaaa” lái zhǐ cèsuǒ (cèsuǒ, línyù huò yùgāng), ér wèishēngjiān “bbbb” shì zhōngguó dàlù zuì chángyòng de wèishēngjiān yòngpǐn. Zài gōnggòng chǎngsuǒ “cccc” zhǐshì “xǐshǒujiān”. Qítā zhōngwén shùyǔ bāokuò:“Dddd”, xǐzǎo de yùshì, tōngcháng méiyǒu xǐshǒujiān,“eeee”, méiyǒu xǐyù shèshī de gōnggòng xǐshǒujiān,“ffff” xǐ shǒu jiàn huò wèishēngjiān, yǐjí “gggg” xǐshǒujiān zhǔyào zài táiwān). Yǒu shíhòu, yīxiē zhōngguó rén bǎ cèsuǒ wǎnzhuǎn de chēng wèi “è”, zìmiàn yìyì shàng de dì yī.

 

While "aaaa" is often used in Taiwan to refer to a bathroom (with a toilet and shower or bathtub), "bbbb", hygiene room, is the most frequently used term for bathrooms in mainland China.  In public places "cccc" simply means "restroom."  Other Chinese terms for "bathroom" and "restroom" include: "dddd", bathroom for bathing, usually without a toilet, "eeee", public restroom with no bathing facilities, "ffff" restroom or bathroom, and "gggg" restroom (mainly in Taiwan).  Occasionally, some Chinese speakers refer to the restroom euphemistically as "hhhh", literally, number one.
